Have patience, Have Fun

I really think that musicians most of all can do themselves a huge favor by having patience. Lots of patience, and always keep writing while there are the ‘down times’.

I believe as well, that constant spamming or over usage on Facebook, probably won’t help much at all. Somehow, things have gotten better with Facebook, maybe, but somehow, it has hurt things. A real website is very important.

Learning the rules of copyright forms and musician release forms are very important, as also, having a good music attorney. For if the moment happens, that you must quickly have it together as far as all the paper work stuff goes, there is no time hardly to try and hurry to figure things out.
You MUST BE ON THE BALL AND IN THE MOMENT when the time comes. Ever hear of: Success equals 1)preparedness 2)Opportunity ..

Also, which I think most musicians over look is to KEEP HEALTHY AS MUCH AS YOU CAN ! (:

Don’t smoke

Don’t do drugs

Don’t be drinking a lot and hung over..

don’t care what people say.It AIN’T cool to be strung out!! ESPECIALLY as a new musician!

You must have all your brains and faculties together. Eat Healthy, very very important! Exercise, it helps stress and helps memory and sleep. It is all Good stuff!

Try to stay away from unhealthy, abusive or manipulative relationships, it just takes to much energy and emotions away. True, it could help a love song be written, but living it is a nightmare and unhealthy to your musical en devours.

Have some good merch to sell at shows.. that may be the only money you make. Clubs and club owners are shady often time, don’t trust them, get it in writing or use your own door man! Thats what I always try to do. And my door man usually has a hand clicker or ‘counter’ to be accurate for crowd attendance.

Have good gear, pro gear. No one takes you seriously if you do not.
Listen to what you do.. record.. and listen. Are you out of tune?? Do you suck?? If so, DO NOT UPLOAD your garbage on You Tube! Why do that?? Seriously, what are these people thinking to upload junk on the net? How will that help you get a record deal really?? Upload your best. I have not much out there right now, but there is a reason for it. I do not allow people to just record off a cell phone or bad video. And the vids that are out there, other people have uploaded, I have no control of that, but when I do, I try to monitor what is out there, if I can.

Also, yea, keep band business, business, I have learned that. It is great to be ‘friends’ but when the chips are down, sometimes, business is what is important, and even friends will step on you, so be careful. Just be smart. Learn the basics of music, the business, and writing a good melodic line, and be healthy. Surround with good people.

I am sure there is more I can think of, maybe, but for now, that is it. I really hope it helps. This is such a super tough market with the economy suffering horribly all over the place.. Have patience, and most off, HAVE FUN!! (:

Penso veramente che la cosa piu’ importante che un musicista possa fare sia  avere pazienza. Un sacco di pazienza e continuare a scrivere canzoni anche quando ci sono momenti no.

Credo  pure che spammare o usare troppo Facebook , probabilmente non aiuti molto. Magari a volte funziona ma altre volte puo’ essere controproducente. Un vero e proprio sito Web è molto piu’ importante.

Imparare  le regole del copyright, le forme di rilascio della musica sono cose molto importanti, come anche, avere un avvocato specializzato nel settore musica. Se arriva il momento giusto e devi avere le carte/contratti pronti, non c’è tempo per cercarne uno che prepari tutto il lavoro. Meglio essere preparati. Si deve essere sempre pronti quando arriva il momento giusto.  Mai sentito parlare di: successo è uguale a 1) preparazione 2) opportunità…

Credo anche che la maggior parte dei musicisti trascuri di mantenere sano quanto più è possibile il proprio corpo! (:

Non Fumare!

Non fare uso di droghe/farmaci

Non bere troppo per poi star male.

Non far caso a quello che dice la gente, specialmente quando sei nuovo del mestiere.

Bisogna avere cervello e corpo che funzionino insieme. Mangiare sano è molto molto importante! L’attività sportiva fa bene allo stress e aiuta  a dormire .. È tutta roba buona!

State lontani da relazioni malsane o manipolative, vi tolgono energia e logorano le  emozioni. E’ Vero che possono aiutare mentre scrivete una canzone d’amore ma il gioco non vale la candela.

Cercate di avere del buon materiale da vendere durante i Live… potrebbe essere l’unico modo per fare soldi. I propietari dei club sono spesso personaggi oscuri, non fidatevi di loro. Mettete tutto per iscritto e fatevi aiutare da qualcuno di fidato a stare nella porta per contare effettivamente quanta gente arriva al club. Questo è quello che faccio sempre io.

Usate strumenti buoni, da professionisti altrimenti nessuno vi prenderà sul serio.

Ascoltate bene quello che registrate. Siete fuori tempo? Fate schifo? se è così NON CARICATE la vostra spazzatura su Youtube! Perchè farlo?? Seriamente, ma cosa pensano queste persone che caricano immondizia nel web. Come potrebbe aiutare questo a trovare un ingaggio? Carica solo il migliore. Personalmente non ho molto di mio la fuori e c’è una ragione per questo. Non permetto alle persone che conosco di fare pessimi video con cellulari. Certo, non posso controllare tutti ma quando posso, lo faccio.

E’ importante mantenere il business della band, business! L’ho imparato anch’io. E’ bello avere tanti amici ma quando devi pagare i conti, il business è veramente importante. Siate intelligenti, imparate le basi della musica e scrivete buone melodie.Circondatevi di gente giusta!

Sono sicura ci sia motlo altro ma per ora questo puo’ andare bene. Spero veramente vi possa aiutare.
