Il fenomeno Elvis
Ha vissuto solo 42 anni, ma ha messo un segno (ed un ritmo ) nella musica che è indelebile e per sempre. Elvis - non occorre dire il suo cognome perchè la gente sappia di chi si sta parlando. Ce n’è stato solo uno, non ci sarà mai un altro.
Nel mondo della musica, gli originali non vengono alla luce molto spesso. Qualunque cosa una casa discografica stia facendo. anche le altre ci stanno lavorando pure. Si va con la corrente. Quindi è difficile che l’originalità fiorisca nel mondo della musica registrata.
Elvis Presley ha attirato il music business (ed il resto del mondo) con la sua musica! I genitori che avevano raggiunto la maggiore età nel 1930 e stavano educando i figli adolescenti nel 1950, furono sconvolti! Chi era questa persona disgustosa che aveva apparentemente invaso le loro anime adolescenti? Era Elvis – e sì, la sua musica aveva certamente invaso le anime degli adolescenti.
La Elvis Mania era qualcosa che il mondo non aveva mai visto prima. Oh, ci sono statio altri cantanti che furono idolatrati (Frank Sinatra per citarne uno), ma nulla di anche lontanamente simile alla Elvis Mania!
I Censori governavano il mondo della televisione e film. Ed Sullivan del famoso Ed Sullivan Show volle che allo show della Domenica sera ci fosse Elvis. I censori furono sgomenti. Tutte quelle allusioni e movimenti sessuali non potevano essere trasmessi in televisione. Fu raggiunto un’accorodo, Elvis poteva essere ripreso solo dalla vita in su. Elvis apparì durante lo show iò 9 settembre 1956. Fece 3 apparizioni per un inaudita somma (allora) di $ 50.000.
Storie di Elvis sono roba da favole e racconti popolari, e la maggior parte di loro hanno almeno un granello di verità . La causa ufficiale della morte di Elvis è elencata come aritmia cardiaca – un attacco di cuore.

The Elvis Phenomenon
He only lived to be 42 years old, but he put a mark on (and a beat to) music that is indelible and forever. Elvis — you don’t have to even say his last name for people to know who you’re talking about. There was just the one; there will never be another.
In the world of music, real originals don’t come to light very often. Whatever one record company is doing, the rest of them are very likely doing as well. They go with the flow. So it’s difficult for originality to flourish in the world of recorded music.
Elvis Presley and his music set the music business (and the rest of the world) on its collective ear! Parents who had come of age in the 1930s and were raising teenage children in the 1950s were appalled! WHO was this disgusting gyrating person who had apparently invaded their teenager’s very souls? He was Elvis — and yes, his music had most certainly invaded the souls of teenagers.
Elvis mania was like nothing the world had ever seen before. Oh, there had been other singers that had been idolized (Frank Sinatra comes to mind), but nothing even close to Elvis mania!
Censors still ruled the world of television and movies. Ed Sullivan of The Ed Sullivan Show fame that aired on Sunday nights wanted to have Elvis appear on the show. The censors were aghast. All of that sexually insinuating gyrating simply could NOT be aired on television. A deal was eventually struck that allowed Elvis to be shown only from the waist up. Elvis did appear on the Ed Sullivan Show on September 9, 1956. He made three appearances for an unheard-of sum (at that time) of $50,000.
Elvis stories are the stuff of fables and folk tales, and most of them do have at least a grain of truth in them. The official cause of Elvis’s death is listed as heart arrhythmia — a heart attack.
